A MOST IMPROPER GENTLEMAN won the 2010 Golden Heart for Regency Historical.
In 2010, it also won:
The Beau Monde Royal Ascot for Regency Historical
The Molly (Historical)
Heart of the Rockies (Historical)
Reveal Your Inner Vixen
It was a finalist in every contest I entered it in, including The Golden Palm, and it was also nominated in the Molly's Unsinkable Heroine Category.

My second book, The Devil May Care, won the 2010 Beau Monde Royal Ascot in the Hot Regency category, and won the Historical category of the 2009 Golden Pen.
In 2010, it was also a finalist in:
The Emily
Great Expectations
Fab Five
Reveal Your Inner Vixen (came in second place behind A Most Improper Gentleman!).

Since I was a Golden Heart finalist for A Most Improper Gentleman (then called Shameless) in 2009 as well, I'm lucky enough to count myself a member both of the uber-talented Unsinkables and of the extraordinary Ruby Slippered Sisters. I'll blog here when I can, but you'll hear more from me at the 2009 finalists' website, rubyslipperedsisterhood.com

I Found My Agent!!
Wonderful news: I now have an agent, the fabulous Susanna Einstein of LJK Literary Management.  I met her at the RWA Nationals Award Ceremony, thanks to my ever-lovely chaptermate Rachael Herron (whose very charming first book, How to Knit a Love Song, debuted with Avon A this past spring). I'm thrilled to be working with Susanna, and am very excited about taking the next steps toward getting my books out to the world!

Sludge Brain / Good News

No, those two things aren't related, except by coincidence.

My brain is fried from processing entries for the Golden Pen Contest Single Title category, for which I'm coordinator.  Ai ai ai--I have a WHOLE new appreciation for all the volunteer work that goes into Romancelandia's vast webs of mentorship and mutual support.  (The Golden Pen got a record number of entries this year--up 50% over last year.)

It's taken me days to sort out and copy entries and get them properly assigned to judges, and I've spent the entire afternoon just getting entries attached to emails for the individual judges. And I'm not done yet.

HOWEVAH....in the middle of all this I learned that A MOST IMPROPER GENTLEMAN has finaled in Heart of the Rockies.  (Woot!) Contest karma, I guess.

Check out the excerpt from GENTLEMAN...the link's over to the left!

Getting Back to Business

I normally hate wearing necklaces (can't stand anything around my throat...I swear I was garrotted as a witch or heretic in a former life or something) but I still haven't taken off my Golden Heart pendant!

The thrill hasn't worn off either, but strangely...my books don't seem to be writing themselves.  And no cabana boys have showed up to bring me lovely iced drinks with umbrellas in them.

Back to work it is.

But first, a new addition: since a lot more traffic has been coming to this site since August 1 (Greetings, gentle visitors!! Lovely to have you here! Really, there should be a cabana boy stopping by with a lovely iced drink for you any minute now!) I thought I'd better go ahead and add an actual excerpt to the link promising "Excerpts." More or less at random, I've chosen to add Chapter Three of The Devil May Care.  Go have a look!

Oh, but please continue to ignore the link that promises "Favorite Links" because I still haven't figured out how to make that one work.

Now if you'll excuse me, I must head to the laundry room to remove fruit-bat guano from my kids' Zoo Camp t-shirts so they'll be clean tomorrow for more explorations in the muck.... Yup, the life of a Golden Heart winner is all glamor, all the time. (Really, I NEED me some cabana boys.)
